If stress is taking its toll on your body, you may not be sleeping well, feeling aches and pains, or having trouble concentrating.
You may feel anxious, or depressed. You may be on medication to help you manage these symptoms. You may also be looking for ways to help yourself that are natural, safe and effective. Yoga Therapy will assist you in being more flexible, relaxed and happy.
A yoga therapy session combines elements of classical yoga with contemporary psychology. Through supported yoga postures and guided gentle breathing, you'll explore the wisdom of the body. As you encounter areas that seem tight, numb or resistant, you'll use the breath and focused awareness to release that tension.You'll find your mind letting go of chatter and just listen to the wisdom of the body. You'll be able to let go of deeply held tensions, released through supported movement, breathwork, and dialogue—and feel deeply relaxed and rejuvenated as a result.
Yoga Therapy is not about "fixing" you. It's about listening to your body's wisdom with compassion and acceptance.
Because the work is grounded in the body, you'll probably leave your first session feeling some immediate relief. What's more, you'll have more clarity about your next step in life.
Some people come for just one session. Others see the value in coming on a weekly or monthly basis. Though this work is not yet covered by medical insurance, people often find that they can avoid months of more costly treatment. Many physicians and mental health professionals consider yoga therapy a valuable adjunct to traditional therapies, and recommend it to their patients. Because the work is tailored to each individual, there is no prerequisite of flexibility or physical conditioning required.
Sessions are held in the Lake Falls Village area, or arrangements may also be made for a private session in your home. Plan on an hour and 15 minutes for the first session.
